"My husband and I joined
Amite
Baptist
Church
in 1990 after relocating from
Alabama
. In January, 1993, three-fourths of our family was involved in a terrible car accident. Before all of the emergency vehicles had arrived, Bro. Terry was there. By the time my husband and  son arrived at one hospital, members of our church fellowship group were there. As I arrived at a different hospital some time later, other friends from Amite Baptist were there. There were so many of our dear church family, including our pastor, who ministered to me and my family all through that dreadful night that we tended to forget that we were relative newcomers with no other family in the area. This was the night that we realized that this church had become one of the most important relationships of our lives. As I recouped from numerous surgeries, months and months of therapy, and years of struggle for our family to deal with the blow of having wife/mom being in a wheelchair, we were shown over, and over, and over…a trillion times over…how God had blessed us with a wonderful, caring church family. It has now been 15 years since that awful night, and I have been blessed with the love of a pastor, a Sunday School, a terrific ladies’ Bible study group, and a family of hundreds that has grown dearer to me each day. Nothing could have ever prepared me for the gift God gave me when He directed us to
Amite
Baptist
Church."
